.... from Peter Hinstridge, Chair of Cambs and Hunts Association of Cricket Officials
We ask Clubs and Club Officers to share this message within your Clubs, to all of your Umpires and Scorers, as this is a thank you message from Peter Hinstridge, Chair of Cambs and Hunts Association of Cricket Officials.
"With the cricket season just completed successfully and the rain affected games fading slowly from memory I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our umpires and scorers, from those members of our association (CHACO) who officiated in league, county and schools cricket, to those who agree to score or go out to umpire some or all of a cricket match for their team.
It’s a truism that every cricket match needs two umpires and at least one, preferably two, scorers.
They’re often the least wanted roles in the team but we all know that they matter; we also know that the better the umpires and scorers the better the game experience.
For that reason our Education Officer Ben Whyall and I ran a series of introductory courses for umpires before the start of the season and we took part in the Young Leaders in Cricket initiative. The feedback from both projects have been encouraging and we’ll be doing something similar before next season, including something for scorers.
Finally, and once, again, thank you all for your support in getting the game on, allowing a large number of people to play and enjoy their cricket."
Peter Hinstridge,
Chairman,
