THE ECB HAVE ANNOUNCED THE RETURN OF FACE TO FACE ID VERIFICATION FOR DBS CHECKS FROM 14TH JULY 2020. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE GUIDELINES ATTACHED IN THE DOCUMENT SECTION BELOW.
The online DBS process is now live and applicants/post holders who need to complete a new application online can do so, providing they have a valid email address. The paper system is there as a fall back for any applicant who doesn’t have an email address and doesn’t want to create one.
If a club member needs to apply for a DBS/or renew their DBS at the end of the 3 year period, the process is:
The applicant should contact their Club Welfare Officer (CWO) and ask them to initiate an online DBS application. If the CWO has been registered as an Online ID Verifier and has access to the system, they can initiate the application
If the CWO is not registered as an ID Verifier yet, they will not be able to do this, so applicants should contact the Cambridgeshire Cricket Operations Team and a member of the team will initiate the application for them.
Applicants who are not members of clubs should contact the Cambridgeshire Cricket Operations Team and follow that process.
Once the application has been initiated, applicants will receive an email link to complete their application and should follow the instructions as directed on the portal. The applicant will be asked to input details of 3 pieces of ID evidence (e.g. passport, driving licence, birth certificate, utility bill, P45/P60).
When the application has been submitted, they will receive an email from ECB with contact details of nearby Online ID Verifiers so that the applicant can get their ID documents verified. If the CWO is registered as an Online ID Verifier, they can do this. If they are not registered and the details of the local ones are inconvenient, please contact the Cambridgeshire Cricket Operations Team and a members of the team can arrange to get documents verified.
Once an ID Verifier has approved the documents and submitted the application, it will be turned around in 7-10 days, sometimes quicker. Applicants will receive their certificate through the post as normal - there is no need to do anything else except keep it safe. CWOs can keep track of applications for their club as they go through the process if they are registered as Online ID Verifiers. If they are not registered, the Cambridgeshire Cricket Operations Team can also track the progress of applications.
