Club Safeguarding Officers are vital members of the club and key to making an environment safe, welcoming and friendly for children to enjoy the game of cricket.
Why do clubs need a Club Safeguarding Officer?
Whilst everyone is responsible for safeguarding, the Club Safeguarding Officer will make sure the policies and procedures are in place, and that everyone who should be vetted to work with children, is vetted by the ECB. They are the person that others come to if they have concerns, and having attended specific training, will know what to do in order to assist, or who to ask for further help.
ECB Safe Hands Workshops will run in advance of the 2022 season via face to face courses

Is your CSO Compliant?
Training for a Club Safeguarding Officer comprises of THREE elements:
- ECB Safe Hands for Club Safeguarding Officers (Certificate dated within the last 3 years if attending a face to face course, certificates from an online Safe Hands webinar are only valid for 2 years))
- ECB Safeguarding Young Cricketers (SYC) online module (Certificate dated within the last 3 years) For those with existing SPC certificates (valid for 3 years) these can be used until they expire
- Valid/Current ECB DBS Check (Certificate dated within the last 3 years)
All 3 elements must all be in date at the same time for your club's CSO to be complaint. The ECB Safe Hands Workshop and Safeguarding Course are two different things to avoid any confusion.
