Cambridgeshire Emerging players programme is run in partnership with Essex County Cricket Club. This partnership allows our players within Cambridgeshire have a clearer pathway to First Class Cricket. The players are selected from our U13-U16 County Age Group squads through various selection processes. Once selected the players will take part in an extensive winter and summer training programme. During the programme, the players will take part in skills and scenario sessions, Fielding sessions and Strength and conditioning. Our coaching staff consists of:
• James Williams (EPP Lead)
• Chris Scott (Former Durham, Notts & Cambridge MCCU Head Coach)
• Peter Such (Former England, Notts, Essex & England lead Spin Coach).
The programme is based at Fenners Cricket Centre and the University of Cambridge Sports Centre in their impressive Strength & Conditioning suite. Alongside this, the players will also train at the Essex CloudFM County Ground with the Essex Emerging Players Programme and have access to their professional coaching staff.
Our Emerging Players Programme is not just about the playing ability of our squad. The programme also looks at the all-round support we can give to our players over the course of the year. They have access to Nutrition advice, physio support, psychological support, Goal Setting advice and finally each player is given a Mentor. The Mentors are former Cambridgeshire young cricketers that have progressed on to playing for a First-Class County. We are very fortunate to have Max Holden (England U19 & Middlesex CCC) Michael Pepper (Essex CCC) Andy Laws (Middlesex Academy, Leeds MCCU) & Ben Seabrook (Durham Academy, Cambridge MCCU & Cambs CCC Vice-Captain). These mentors will support our players through their time on the EPP and offer support and advice and reflect on their experiences that have got them on to the next level of their careers.
We hope the all-round support we give our players on the EPP will provide them with the right knowledge and experiences to progress in to First Class Cricket.
