Since 2003, the Lady Taverners Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 girls' cricket competitions, run by the ECB, have given over 75,000 girls the opportunity to participate in cricket, many for the first time.
The UK's only national girls-only cricket competitions provide a vital pathway for grassroots girls' cricket, introducing participants to local clubs and development programmes.
The Lady Taverners indoor schools and outdoor clubs girls’ cricket competitions provided 86,616 sporting chances to nearly 22,000 girls in 2016. These opportunities to play were provided at both informal and competitive levels with a progression pathway to local clubs and development programmes.
Cambridgeshire Cricket runs a Lady Taverners schools programme (as part of the Schools & Education initiative) for Under 13 and Under 15 girls which culminates in the Under 13 and Under 15 Indoor Schools Competitions and County Finals.
The winners of the county Under 13 and Under 15 competitions progress to the regional finals.
