There have been plenty of matches & lots to report on across the age groups, both home and away, wins and losses ⬇️

Sunday 12th July
GU14 vs. Norfolk won by 1 wicket
Cambridgeshire posted 140 off 26 overs so knew they had to focus on their bowling - however there were some confident plays from Diya M (24), Effie T (22) & Charlotte B (19). With 7 wickets for only 54 runs the target looked imminently achievable but Norfolk rallied for the win! Millie was bowler of the match with 3 wickets, with Flora & Emilia with 2 💪

Boys U14- vs. Essex won by 2 wickets.
The U14’s played a competitive Essex. Cambridgeshire won the toss & elected to bat first. Dhrona I (73) & Aiket S (37) were the best of our batters. In reply Essex passed Cambridgeshire’s score in the 40th over 235/8. Pick of the bowlers was Gabbie H, 4-31 off 8 🔥

Boys U13 - vs. Cricket East
Game 1 - Cambridgeshire won by 24 runs. T Lance (31), D Sajog (24) & E Kumar (24) with Z Morgan the pick of the bowlers 3-21 from his 4 overs
In game 2 Cambridgeshire continued to perform, winning by 4 wickets. Again, strength with the batt - D Sajog (19), T Jenkin hitting an impressive 4 boundaries for his 18, and O Rodwell (18) 👏

U16 boys - Lost by 1 wicket to Cricket East
Cambridgeshire lost a relatively low scoring game by 1 wicket to Cricket East! Ethan Hayes-Fernandez batted excellently at the end of the innings, last out for 39. Supported by Cillian Harrison (25) & Harley Edmonds (22)
The total looked short but when Harley Edmonds (4-29) & Neel Kumar bowled together, the U16’s got back into the match. A performance that had plenty of heart, but not batting the full 50 overs cost them! 💙

The Cambridgeshire Women’s First XI were also in action away against Devon. Despite the loss, congratulations must go to Jess McCrum for taking a fifer 5-66 from 8 overs and Millie Rawlins with 69* 👊

🏏 Earlier this month, we shared highlights from the inaugural Barclays Knight-Stokes Cup Cambridgeshire held at The Leys School where @cambourne_vc were crowned champions in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.

Since then, the U15 girls’ team has continued their fantastic journey in the Barclays Knight-Stokes Cup, progressing through the group stages unbeaten to reach the last 16 of the competition.

The team travelled to Bedford School to compete for a place in the national semi-finals. Defeating Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School, before missing out to Chelmsford County High School from Essex who progress to the semi-finals.

Congratulations to the Cambourne Village College girls on a fantastic cup run 🏏⭐️👏

Congratulations to March Town, City of Ely and Audley Wenden for making it to finals day. All 3 matches were closely contested with some fantastic team and individual performances - 53* for Abi Alden, 38* for Erin Brook, 3 wickets each for Alice Cross and Alison Fox, and 2 fielding wickets for Amy Liversedge.

Another busy weekend and week of County Age Group cricket lies ahead! 🏏

Good luck to all of our teams as they take to the field, including the Boys U13 MCC Foundation Cambridge Hub, who play the Framlingham Hub at Burwell in their first match of the season.

🏏 U16 Girls - Win against Lincolnshire by 105 runs
The U16’s put in their best performance of the season at Exning vs. Licolnshire. Making 288-9 from their 50. Lots of excellent partnerships throughout the inning with Diya M making a century. The bowlers all put in a shift in the heat, with captain Kaylee W being the standout with 4-29 👊

Tuesday - U18 Girls - Win vs. Lincolnshire
The Girls U18 Squad travelled to Lincolnshire County Ground on Tuesday to take on Lincs in the One-Day Cup competition & came away with a brilliant win by 4 wickets. Cambs bowled with good discipline with Ali Goodricke leading the attack in her first game as captain (3-27) & Jess Pugh (1-17) on her return from injury. Lincs finished their innings 167 all out.

In reply Cambs worked hard on a turning pitch, Abi Davis (50) with support from Ellie Skeaping (21) Cambs reached the target winning by 4 wickets and 15 overs to spare. A brilliant all-round performance 💪

Wednesday - U18 - Lost to Norfolk
Game 1 - Cambridgeshire U18’s were unable to match a powerful Norfolk batting display, eventually falling to an 84-run defeat, despite some encouraging performances from the boys. Chasing 256, we shoed plenty of intent throughout; Neel K led the fight with an excellent 69* from 44 balls. There were valuable contributions elsewhere in the order with Teddie C & Murray C

Game 2 - After winning the toss & electing to bat, Cambridgeshire posted an impressive 214-4 from their 20 overs, thanks largely to a sensational inning from Alfie Piper, smashing 131 from just 65 balls. Defending 215, Cambridgeshire’s bowlers battled hard against an equally aggressive Norfolk. Neel Kumar was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3-40 from his 4 overs. Further support came from George M & Liam T as Cambridgeshire continued to fight until the closing stages 🏏👏

🏏Last week saw yet another stretch of hot weather for our cricketers who produced some great results despite the hot conditions.☀️☀️☀️

We’re now in the busy period with games mid week as well as at the weekends!

Last week…
Sunday 5th
U14 Boys - Win against Norfolk by 8 wickets
Cambridgeshire notched up a good away win against Norfolk, with a strong all-round bowling effort (with every bowler taking at least 1 wicket) & a century partnership from Sam Booty (44*) & Etienne L (78*) & support from Axel (35) & Dhrona (34) to chase down Norfolk’s total

U18 Boys - Lost to Cricket East - Cambridgeshire played competitive Cricket East at Fenners. Cricket East scored 266/10 off the 50 overs. Liam T 4/40 & Harley E 3/43 were the pick of the bowlers. Top scorers with the bat were Murray Christie (43) & Harrison Mitchell (40).

U13 Girls - Lost against Norfolk by 33 runs
The team were out played, but there were some notable highlights in the bowling with N Deorankar taking 3 wickets, and A Thandu with 2-9 off 4 overs
