Young Leaders

In Cambridgeshire, whether in Schools or in Clubs we are keen to help young people to develop to their full potential, not only through their education but also through volunteering.

We partner with the Young Leaders in Cricket CiC (YLiC) to encourage Young People to volunteer and provide training workshops to help them develop life skills and receive some qualifications in our game at the same time.

To find out what is involved we encourage youngsters from Clubs in Cambridgeshire to join us at an Enthuse evening, where representatives from both YLiC and Cambridgeshire Cricket are present to discuss what lies ahead.

In return for £70 fundraising and 20 hours volunteering in their local Cricket Club or local community a young person can attend workshops that will help them qualify as a:

  • Young Activator – so they can help with junior training back at their club
  • Young Official – so they can umpire or score the more junior age groups in their Clubs
  • Young Emergency 1st Aider
  • Young Ground and Environment Keeper

And receive training in

  • Fundraising
  • Mental Resilience

In 2023 our Young Leaders donated more than 400 hours volunteering time and raised more than £1300 for charities including the Ruth Strauss Foundation and the MCC Foundation.

So, if you or your child is in School Years 9 to 11 and are interested in volunteering and working with your cricket club to help out, then the Young Leaders programme is for you.
