🏏 It’s been a busy half term with all teams playin 🏏 It’s been a busy half term with all teams playing at some point over the week - a quick review of some of the early games...

BU13 – vs Lincolnshire
Winning in match 1 with all bowlers taking wickets & a particular mention to F Clark with a v. impressive 3/0 (4), and limiting Lincolnshire to 53 all out. D Sajog (20*) & O Thomson (30*) replied to take the win! The boys also took the win in match2 👊

BU14 - vs Sussex
Sussex won the toss & elected to bat first in the searing heat which was a huge advantage!
A strong Sussex side put on a big total & an exhausted Cambridgeshire side had a tough day, but a commendable 34 for Atharv K with Sam (16) & Sammit (16) supporting with double figures. 👍

GU14 - vs Norfolk
Another impressive 87 from Diya M & an excellent 57 from Pragati S, with good support from Holly A (15), Saanvi M (20) & Maya S (15) against a strong v Norfolk side. 👏

BU15 - vs Bucks
Bucks chose to bat first on a hot day but were restricted to 218 all out by Cambs U15 Boys, 3 wickets apiece for Ben C & Neel K.  An opening partnership of 162 between Ferdie P (71) and Ethan HF (85) set up a resounding 8-wicket victory. 🔥

GU18 - vs Suffolk
It wasn’t to be the U18’s day in the U18 County T20.
Match 1 - Double figures for Lulu H (30), Jess M (43), Abi D (18*)
Match 2 - Kaylee W playing up from the U16’s 44* & Abie D (27) 💪

GU13 - Cambs won by 10 wickets
Spread of wickets amongst the girls, limiting Norfolk to just 84. Cambridgeshire had a good batting day with A Thandu (32*) & O Coen (30*) reaching the target in just 8 overs. 🫶

BU15- vs Norfolk 
The U15 Boys were back in action & put on a strong opening partnership of 165, Cillian H finishing on 137 & Ferdie P on 60. Ethan HF weighed in with 71 off 55 to post 334-4 off their 50 overs! Norfolk replied with a hundred opening partnership, it looked like this would go to the wire. Cambridgeshire held their nerve with some sharp fielding & composed death-bowling & Norfolk were dismissed on the final ball to take the victory by 4 runs! 🏏

Well done to all those playing in soaring temperatures this week 💙

👧 Girls Softball-to-Hardball Transition Session 🏏 👧 Girls Softball-to-Hardball Transition Session 🏏

Today we had a great session supporting girls from across clubs in Cambridgeshire to try hardball cricket - some for the first time!

A big thank you to @cottenhamcricket for the use of their amazing net facilities and to the girls who attended (and the parents and guardians who navigated the roadworks to get there 🚦)

We look forward to seeing the girls playing active roles in their teams as part of our Maiden Cricket Girls Leagues 🙌

Don’t worry if you missed this one, look out for more sessions like this for women and girls in due course! ⏭️

📣Calling Young Cricketers Cambridgeshire Cricket 📣Calling Young Cricketers

Cambridgeshire Cricket are once again running a young volunteer programme, this year it is an ECB led programme as part of the Cricket Collective project that encourages and supports volunteers.

The Young Cricket Collective is a national programme for 14–18‑year‑olds who want to make a difference in their club and community. 

As part of The Young Cricket Collective there will be training to be a Young Activator, Young Official, Young Club Leader and Young Grounds Keeper! 

The programme will also
- Build confidence, leadership, and life skills 
- Receive unique kit, merchandise and certificates 
- Begin a journey that leads to qualifications & opportunities. 

Cambridgeshire Cricket are running two in‑person training days for which will cover the Young Activator, Young Official, Young Club Leader modules (participants only need to sign up to one day). 

Work Shop Day 1 
⏰Time: 9:30am to 4pm
📆Date: Wednesday 27th May 
📍Location: Spicers Pavilion, Sawston & Babraham Cricket Club, CB22 3DG

Work Shop Day 2 - in partnership with @cricket_east 
⏰Time: 9:30am to 4pm
📆 Date: Thursday 28th May
📍Location: Godmanchester Town Cricket Club, PE29 2BN

💷The cost of the course is £35 which covers the cost of the workshops, access to the online portal & the clothing (tracksuit & hat).

🏏 Another triumphant weekend for our county age gr 🏏 Another triumphant weekend for our county age group teams 💙

Last Sunday saw the BU13, GU14 & BU14 in action with some excellent results.

🏏 Boys U13 - Won by 5 wickets against Norfolk
- With George W taking an excellent 4/27 (8), and some strong batting performances from Ted (31), Oscar R (41*) and Aayan (31*) 💪

🏏 Boys U14 - Played back-to-back T20 games v Lincolnshire at Babraham.
- Match 1 - won by 21runs - a strong batting partnership with half centuries from Etienne L and Sam B put the Cambridgeshire boys in a strong position for their bowlers, led by Evan M and Gabi H 👊
- Match 2 - won by 6 wickets - the outcome was up in the air right until the last over but 3/7 from Monty S and a match saving 63* for Ivo PJ saw the Cambridgeshire boys take the win 🔥

🏏 Girls U14 travelled to Blunham Cricket Club for their match against Cricket East U15’s - ‘A great day, very clinical. The girls put a lot in & got the rewards for it’
- Match 1 - won by 8 wickets - Maya S scored an excellent 58* off 50, with Helena M narrowly missing out on a 50 score (49) 👏
- Match 2 - won by 31 runs - Diya M finished the match 72* (off 55) and lots of tidy bowling shared amongst the players 🫶

As we head into half term next week there are lots of weekend & mid-week matches being played - so follow for more info… 

First up - Sun 24th May - the following games are being played - GU13vNorfolk, GU14vNorfolk, BU13vLincolnshire, BU14vSussex, BU15vBuckinghamshire
