So when is the course?
📆 Sunday 8th February
⌚️ 10am to 4.30pm
🗺️ at Ely College, Downham Road, Ely, CB6 2SH

This really popular course is designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket.

Whether you plan to support Junior Softball cricket through to adult cricket, this course will cover the following topics:

- Understanding the role of the umpire
- Gain a basic understanding of the Laws used to umpire the game
- Answering appeals and the common methods of dismissal
- How to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the game
- Judging whether or not it is safe to play

The course is split into classroom and practical learning, so we recommend learners to come dressed appropriately.

The course also contains some online work which will take no more than 90 minutes to complete.

Pre-requisites:
Learners must be 14 years of age at the time of the course.
Cost £70.00

Post course, learners will have the confidence and competence to go and umpire at appropriate levels within recreational cricket.

A big end of 2025 Thank You to every volunteer! 🤩 A big end of 2025 Thank You to every volunteer! 🤩

A massive thank you to all the volunteers out there in our Cambridgeshire Clubs who have made 2025 a fantastic year and contributed towards some amazing memories.

Whether you are a committee member, coach, team manager, scorer, umpire, grounds keeper, maker of teas, puller of pints or just volunteer who just does what needs to be done “Thank You!” 🙏💙

11 players make a team, but it takes more, much more to make a club. There are so many jobs to do, and club volunteers are the life blood that make them happen, making our game inviting and inclusive to our communities.

We know that many clubs alrewdy have members working away preparing for the 2026 season. Thank You!

👀📣 The Cambridgeshire Cricket Winter Wonders Awards will be back in 2026 so look out for the nomination forms being made available in February and celebrate the work of your brilliant volunteers.

In the meantime we hope everyone has chance to enjoy Christmas with their family and friends and here’s to 2026 🎄
