📣 A partnership with a clear focus: growing women’ 📣 A partnership with a clear focus: growing women’s and girls’ cricket. 💙💜

At Cambridgeshire Cricket we’re proud to announce an exciting new partnership with @maiden.cricket - marking a clear commitment to grow and elevate women’s and girls’ cricket across the county.

Cambridgeshire Cricket is pleased to partner with Maiden, a purpose-driven, women’s-first cricket brand founded by sisters Honor & Cat. Maiden designs kit, teamwear and equipment built from the ground up for female players - because when kit fits, everything changes.

As part of this partnership, the Cambridgeshire Girls’ League will become the Cambridgeshire Maiden Cricket Girls’ League- a reflection of our shared ambition to inspire more girls to play and to raise the profile of the game across clubs, schools and communities.

Maiden will also be the named sponsor for the Women’s & Girls’ Development category at our Winter Wonders Awards, helping us champion and celebrate those growing the game.

Together, we’re working to remove barriers, create opportunities, and build a game where every female player feels they belong.

Got kit you don’t use? Someone else needs it! ♻️ Got kit you don’t use? Someone else needs it! ♻️

We are pleased to see the first of our ECB funded kit recycling bins being used by local cricket clubs keen to reduce barriers in accessing cricket, and making cricket more inclusive and sustainable.

We know cricket kit isn’t cheap & cost shouldn’t be the reason someone can’t be exposed to the game. That’s why Cambridgeshire Cricket has launched our new ‘Kit Recycling Scheme’, partnering with proactive clubs across the county.

If you’ve got kit you’ve grown out of or no longer use - but it is still in great condition - donate it! Pads, gloves, bats, helmets... it could all make the difference to another player starting out or continuing their cricket journey.

This scheme isn’t just about cost - globally discarded clothing contributes around 1.2billion tonnes of Co2 emissions every year! Extending the life of sportswear by just 9 months can significantly reduce its environmental impact. Small actions = real change!

You will find recycling bins ready for use for the new season already at @marchtowncricketclub @haddenhamcc @city_of_ely_cricket_club @newmarket_cricket_club @roystoncc Great Shelford CC and @cambourne_cc with more in place soon at Burwell, Histon and Thriplow.

Spread the word, Reduce Barriers, Increase Sustainability!

If you would like to contribute kit or get involved please contact the clubs involved or Jamie.rice@cambscricket.org.uk

Yesterday, Cambridgeshire Cricket held their first Yesterday, Cambridgeshire Cricket held their first ECB Umpiring Course aimed at Women and Girls.

The course was tutored by Gabi Brown, who is the 2nd women appointed to the ECB Professional Umpires panel and the PCA Umpire of the Year 2025 and arrived hot on the heels of umpiring in the ECB Metro Bank one-day cup game between Durham and Lancashire on Saturday.

13 candidates are being taken through the basics behind officiating a game, including positioning, methods of dismissal, the laws of the game, signals and teamwork with their fellow umpires, scorers, captains and other stakeholders.

With the growth of the Women and Girls game, we also need to grow the number of umpires, scorers and coaches in the Women's game.

A massive thank you to all of the candidates for their participation and we look forwards to seeing them officiating soon. Of course a massive thank you also to Gabi for bringing her experience and humour in helping us launch this course in Cambridgeshire.
