Talent Pathway for 2026-2027 season & TDC nomination process open NOW!

Talent Pathway for 2026-2027 season

Cambridgeshire Cricket is pleased to confirm its plans for its talent pathways for the 2026-2027 season. These plans look to provide opportunities for as many players as possible to experience higher level coaching and matches alongside broader talent identification and player development. It is important to note that these plans are aligned to National ECB direction, recommendation and funding.

County Age Group representative squads will be run at Under 13, Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, and Under 18 for boys and at Under 13, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 for girls.

At Under 10, Under 11 and Under 12 level, Talent Development Centres will be run for boys and girls. These will not be recognised representative County squads but will serve to provide enhanced training for the holistic development of our talented younger players.

Talent Development Centres (TDC)

Open observation sessions will be held for all players who are NOT currently in one of our TDC’s

To be considered for a place in our TDC, players should

  • have some experience of playing cricket; and
  • be keen to play (or transition to play) hard ball cricket during the 2026-2027 programme

To express and interest in an observation at Under 10, Under 11, or Under 12 for boys or girls (September 2026, school years 5,6,7) please complete the following Expression of Interest (EOI) for link form link (below) by 6pm on Sunday 14th June 2026

Please note we may not be able to accommodate any interest expressed after this deadline.

Existing TDC players will automatically be filtered into the observation and selection process for 2026-2027 TDCs and, therefore, do not need to complete an EOI.

Once we know the level of interest, we will confirm the structure and timing of the TDC Observations.

County Age Group (CAG) squads

Open observation sessions for our CAG squads will be conducted throughout August until the middle of September.

Phase 1 observations will be for all players who are not currently in a CAG squad in 2026. They will be by video submission for Under 14 to Under 18 players and in person for U13 players. In due course, we will send out, via clubs, schools and on our social media accounts, details about the video submissions for the Under 14-18s and also an EOI link for the Under 13 observations.

Phase 2 observations will be held in person for successful Phase 1 players and our existing CAG players.

Existing CAG players will automatically be filtered into Phase 2 of the observation and selection process for 2026-2027 squads and, therefore, do not need to complete an EOI.

We are hopeful of all squads being confirmed by mid-October. For any queries please contact cornelia.ross@cambscricket.org.uk
