On Sunday, three of our women’s teams travelled to Little Shelford, to fight for the crown of ‘Women’s T20 Cup Winners 2026’ as the current holders City of Cambridge were not in attendance.
Game 1:
Audley Wenden played City of Ely in the first game. Ely won the toss and elected to bowl. Opening bat, Amie Flack, led the way. She scored 24 runs and stayed at the crease for almost 15 overs to support her team in posting a good total, but Alice Cross (2 for 22 off 5) and Leah Harrap (1 for 12 off 5) made it difficult. Audley Wenden finished their innings on 85-7.
City of Ely’s opening batters, Abigail Alden (53*) and Charlie Stringer (20) made a great start to the run chase with a partnership of 77, despite Oli Thorogood breaking the partnership it wasn’t quite enough and Ely reached the target total in the 15th over.
Game 2:
Game two saw March Town bat first. Ely took some important wickets before Erin Brook (14) came to the crease showing great intentions with a strike rate of 127.27 before being dismissed by Eliza O’Donnell (2 for 13 off 3). Alison Fox tried to steady the ship, scoring 12* off 27, and getting the team to a total of 92-6 off 20 overs. Leah Harrap was the most economical bowler for City of Ely, only giving away 5 runs in 4 overs, and was well supported by Elsie Parkington who took 2 wickets for 11 off her 3 overs.
City of Ely’s captain, Lucy Harler, guided her team from the start of their batting innings, scoring 22 of 25 before being dismissed by Alison Fox. Alison went on to take the first 3 wickets for just 17 runs off her 4 overs, putting pressure on Ely’s middle order batters, but once again the target wasn’t enough to stop Ely who reached the required total with wickets in hand.
Game 3:
The final match of the round robin style finals day, was between March Town and Audley Wenden, the latter winning the toss and asking March Town to bat first. Erin Brook (38*) played some brilliant shots, including her first ever senior 6 and led her team to a very competitive total of 112-4 off 20 overs. Amie Flack the pick of the bowlers, taking 1 for 22 off her 5.
Audley Wenden got off to a flying start, staying well above the required run rate in the first 10 overs. Clare Crookenden (34) and Amie Flack (36*) did not give away any chances until the 13th over, where Jasna Salim caught Clare off Lois Hopkin’s (1 for 19 off 5) bowling. This bought Oli Thorogood to the crease and she maintained a 100 strike rate scoring 23* off 23 balls, taking Audley Wenden to the total with only 2 balls to spare, in a very hard fought game!

A huge thank you to Little Shelford for allowing us to host finals day at their lovely little club and to their grounds team for preparing a very good wicket – given the weather we know there was a lot of time spent sorting this for the women.

Overall, it was a fantastic day of cricket, with some superb team performances and individual efforts, with lots of smiles.
