We recently held our first Cambridgeshire Cricket Diverse Communities Forum at Sawston – bringing together clubs with strong South Asian Communities to share experiences, ideas and opportunities for the future of cricket in Cambridgeshire.
The Forum has been created to open a direct channel of communication with clubs, and better understand how Cambridgeshire Cricket can support them to thrive. We discussed access to facilities and grounds, opportunities in coaching, umpiring and ground preparation, as well as the things that help everyone enjoy and feel part of the game.
Inclusion matters to us. We believe in being open and honest, listening to different experiences and, importantly, creating spaces where we can have the conversations that help us understand, learn and move forward together.
We were delighted to be joined by: Cambridge Old Monks, Cam Kerala CC, Telagu Association of Cambridge CC, Serandib CC, Cambourne Knights CC
Alongside the clubs, we were joined by Shoaib Shahid, our new Cambridgeshire Board Director for Inclusion, and Gulfraz Riaz, Chair of the National Asian Cricket council, alongside the Cambridgeshire team, Jamie Rice, Neil Liversedge, Matt Morley.
It was a session full of positive conversations, shared learning and positive outcomes, so much so we are already planning the next Forum in early November. Thank you to everyone who came along, contributed and helped spark some important conversations. We’re looking forward to continuing them.
