On Saturday we celebrated the Cambridgeshire Crick On Saturday we celebrated the Cambridgeshire Cricket "Cricket Collective" Awards for 2025 at the Ambassador Cruise Line County Ground in Chelmsford.

The awards celebrate and honour the volunteers who work so hard to make cricket happen in Cambridgeshire.

Over the coming week we will be providing more details on who the category winners are and which club they represent, we will also be recognising each of the nominees in each of the 14 categories.

While we celebrate the Cricket Collective Awards it is only right to be aware that over the last 12 months we have lost a number of friends who had contributed many years as volunteers either at County and/or Club level, putting in hundreds, if not thousands of hours into playing, coaching, administration or Grounds Management.

We ask that everyone just takes a moment to reflect on the passing of
🏏Norman Alterton
🏏Alan Hobbs
🏏Richard Baker
🏏Rod Symes
🏏Gerry Churchman
🏏Brian Leonard

On behalf of Cambridgeshire Cricket we give a heartfelt thanks for the years of service each gave to the game, the memories they have left and the legacy they created.

They may be gone but are remembered with fond smiles.

As the 2025 season comes to a close today, one that’s taken us from Newcastle to Exeter, Warrington to Wormsley, our Women’s squad have represented their county with passion, humility and determination.

A season with the highs of Division 1 status being confirmed for another season in the One Day Cup and progression to the Last 16 of a National, Professional Cup Competition; to the lows of dropping into the Division 2 T20 group by the barest of margins, it’s been an encouraging and rewarding first year in this new era of women’s cricket 🙌

The future is incredibly exciting…

We all remember that coach, that person who ignite We all remember that coach, that person who ignited that flame of passion for playing cricket.

Leah in the first picture is one of those people and won Cambridgeshire Cricket Collective Award in 2024 as Young Coach of the Year.

Every club tells us they need more coaches and we know that within Clubs there are players, parents and supporters (both male and female) who are just like Lucy and have the talent and skills to take those first steps into coaching by becoming an ECB Foundation Coach.

We have a course beginning on Sunday 12th October and continuing on 19th October at Comberton Village College.

The course is led by brilliant ECB Tutors, who will bring your skills out, so any inner voices saying "I'd like to but I don't have the confidence" will be transformed into "I can and I am going to!"

There are just 8 places left on the course and they will not be around for long, so book your place either see the link in our bio or type the following link into your web browser - https://booking.ecb.co.uk/1kxRLo

If you are on no or low income, from an ethnic background, have a disability or a female you could also qualify for a bursary payment towards your course fee's.

So now is your time!

To find out if you could apply speak to Neil Liversedge (our Cricket Development Officer), his email is neil.liversedge@cambscricket.org.uk.
